I have to send my Samsung S3 back for repair and am trying to back it up. There is an option in the settings to back up and restore, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I've already copied the files on the phone and SD memory to my laptop by hooking the phone up via the cable. I've also backed up my contacts to the sd card.
Is there some way to actually back up the phone? I've tried googling it but all the references seem to involve rooting the phone which sounds slightly complicated.

Hi. I wanted to back up text messages, apps and in general as much as i could so that the phone would be as before when it returned from repair. I actually found an app called my backup which did an excellent job. All my widgets were bsck on the same screen layout as before. All call logs and texts were backed up. It basically out everything back the way it was. I only used the free version and it did the trick.
