Unlocking Code for Nokia 6300 [ Edited ]

I was using a nokia 6300 with my O2 sim and all was well.

I now want to use a Vodafone sim in the same handset. I have been sent a code from O2 but no joy

the IMEI xxxxxxxxxxxxxx for NOkia 6300 handset

Why wont the restricting code not unlock yjehandset.

Any advise.
