Re: HTC Wildfire Power button stopped working

First thing I would do is rule out a software fault by backing up everything and then doing a hard reset, instructions below. If this doesn't help, bring it to an O2 store where it will be assessed and sent for a repair. As long as there is no damage to the phone, the repair would be free.

To hard reset:
Turn the power off.
Hold the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

Those instructions might be hard to follow if the Power button isn't working ;-)

*facepalm* Wow, I can't believe I posted that! I need more coffee!

Okay, you can also do it by going to Settings - Privacy - Factory Data Reset - Reset Phone.

Sorry about all that!

Performing a factory reset via settings
The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the settings.
1. From the Home screen, press Menu , and then tap Settings.
2. Tap SD & phone storage > Factory data reset.
3. Tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything.

Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons
If you can’t turn HTC Wildfire S on or access settings, you can still perform a factory
reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC Wildfire S.
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER
button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release
the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER
button.
