Error 1008 problem connecting to server

For the last 4 months I have been unable to log onto the O2 iPhone app 'my o2' I get error 1008 problem connecting to server. I am able to log in on website. I have reset password and uninstalled app and reinstalled again. I have even formatted iPhone through iTunes and still no joy connecting. Called O2 who said it was an apple problem and I need to call them. Called apple who laughed and said how can they be responsible for a 3rd party app. Can anybody help on how to get this resolved??

Have you the most up to date version of the app?

 

When you remove the app you need to remove it from iTunes also

Yes. It was deleted from both iTunes and iPhone and version installed is the current version available from app store.

Yes I can access the web site without any problems from pc and web browser on iPhone.

Lisa is not here today but I will send her an email to see if she has any updates.

 

Can I ask has the iPhone been synced with iTunes and has the latest software?

 

Have you tried connecting to the 'My O2' app through wifi instead of the phone internet to see if it works, this would let us know of the issue is with the app or the o2 connection?

Yes phone and iTunes are up to date yes they were synced. Yes I have tried wifi instead of O2 network.
As previously stated I have deleted re installed app. Deleted from I tunes and reinstalled.
I can't get app to log in. It used to work great then it stopped.

Could you send us a PM with your O2.ie log in details and we'll investigate it further here?

If you'd prefer I can reset your O2.ie password instead here and you can change it to something more secure when we have fixed the issue, rather than giving us your O2.ie password though.

Hi sheena I have tried to pm you but you are unavailable. Can you give me a call instead tomorrow any time.
Just quick update.
I have re synced phone to new pc re added apps 1 by 1. All apps work apart from my O2. Apps deleted from iTunes and phone re synced and re downloaded. Same error.
Both iPhone pc and iTunes are all latest software versions. Please advise.
please also note this problem is going on almost 6 months now.
