Re: no Internet coverage

im the same. based in meath last night no network at all. full bars but nothing on internet since 8pm. in dublin now and still the same. nothing for the last 20 hours. its obviously a network issue and not a phone issue as so many people are having the same problem.

Re: no Internet coverage

Agree with paulor.  I've switched the phone off and on and also disabled 3G to no avail.  I don't propose using my sim card in another phone as clearly this problem isn't phone-specific.

Re: no Internet coverage

Same in Dublin 4 and 14.

Amazed at how frequently this issue has occured in the last few months. I know the moderators get stuck deling with our frustrations even though it's not their fault but this is getting beyond a joke. Havn't heard of these problems with the other networks and it's making me think that, after over a decade, its going to be time to change to one of the other providers when my current contract is up

Re: no Internet coverage

I have no internet coverage since 9am today.really starting to get to me now. Really considering sending back the phone I ordered recently when it comes and quitting o2 for good .

I got full signal but i am not able to send or recieve texts either this afternoon....

What I find really starnge is that my dad on billpay on his iphone has full access.

This is so not fair and completely ridiculous in our so called modern world.

Re: no Internet coverage

Still not working properly here in Dublin city centre.

As reported around 9am this morning, I have an active working data connection where everything works except HTTP.

This means Email (POP3/IMAP) works, Gmail (uses HTTPS) works, Opera Mini (uses proprietary protocol) works, but standard web access (HTTP) does not work.

Looks like this is a purely a case of HTTP connections being blocked in some way on O2's network. This is exactly how the problem on 29th November last showed up, but in that case it was resolved in a couple of hours.

I phoned tech support this morning, but the network reset of my SIM failed to resolve anything. A subsequent call took 15-20mins to get through where the details of the problem were being sent to the "Tech" team.

Haven't heard anything since.

Re: no Internet coverage

Thanks everyone for the updates. The reason we ask those troubleshooting questions is to rule out a handset issue. A very small number of people are affected by the network issue, I know it seems a lot bigger here, but that's because we are a small online community that attract internet users such as yourselves.

Any and all details you provide here are added to the technical report here so it's all important. As soon as we have an update from the tech team we will let you know.

Re: no Internet coverage

How many users are impacted? Seems to me its 100s. I don't like the way O2 is treating this problem.

The outage has been ongoing now for over 9 hours.

Completely unacceptable

Re: no Internet coverage

I work along Georges street (Dublin castle side) in Dublin 1 and don't have any Internet access. When I go out to the shops my email suddenly updates. It appears this issue is affecting only certain masts.

However, I have experienced this on and off for months now. Not for as long a period as today though. After almost 15 years with O2 this is making me think of a change, very strongly. Data access is extremely important these days.

I find this very condescending.

Re: no Internet coverage

I've tried the trouble shooting tips to no avail.  My colleague is having no  problems with her iphone 3gs in the same office. What is the story?

if this is O2 responce to a customer issue i think its time to move to another provider -

I've had no connection anywhere in Drumcondra or Fairview today (moving between 2 offices) and it's still not working. This so annoying.

Re: no Internet coverage

Sorry if my comment caused any offense, I just meant that we are a small online customer forum, and so are not reflective of the whole network.

The technicians are still investigating, we don't have an update from them yet.

Still not working for me either, the exact error when opening the standard browser is "Data connectivity problem. The server failed to communicate. Try again later"

Re: no Internet coverage

Think this is more than just a few masts, I've been in dundalk, dublin, kilkenny & waterford over last couple of days with no internet service. Would be something if O2 gave some sort of indication as to whats going on.

Well obviously the people posting in this thread are just the tip of the iceberg. The majority can't post as they have no Internet. This is just the lucky few who happen to have wi-fi.

Re: Failure to connect to the network

Thanks everyone for your updates. Latest update is that the database system is not reachable and UNIX team is looking into it. So it seems that they have identified where the issue is, so hopefully it won't take much longer.
